The energy to fly a solar balloon or a solar hot air balloon is none other than solar energy.
The black envelope absorbs the sun's radiation and by conduction heats the air contained therein.
The difference in temperature between the outside air and the inside air creates a difference in density.
The "hot" air contained in the envelope is less dense, therefore lighter than the "cold" air outside. This results in a thrust directed from the bottom upwards.
